Break Up The Stony Ground

A prayer...

Father God, we come to You in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the name above all names to which every knee shall bow and tongue confess that You alone are Lord. To You belongs all glory, honor, and power forever, for You are the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

We humble ourselves before You, thanking You for Your great love and for hearing our prayers. Lord, we need You. We come before Your throne in the fear and reverence of You. Help us to be still before You, and listen for Your voice. Search our hearts, Lord, and show us our sinful ways that we might confess our sins to You and be forgiven. Lord, we recognize that our deepest need is for You to be our Savior and Lord. We repent and turn to You, asking for Your forgiveness, mercy, and grace.

Please forgive us for all the ways we have fallen short of Your glory and for where we have left You as our first love. Father, we ask that You would purify our hearts, give us Your heart, and help us to be like You. Cause our hearts to break with what breaks Yours. Take all of us in exchange for all of You. Break up the stony ground of our hearts, Lord, and help us to grow in our love for You and each other. Prune and refine us, Lord, from dead works and lukewarmness, helping us to rely on Your power and strength. Let it begin now, Lord, with us, in this time. Please give us ears to hear, Lord.

Forgive us for when we have been prideful, self-reliant, and prayerless; for when we have been unwilling to completely surrender. Forgive us for when we have forgotten You, Lord. Help us to willingly offer ourselves to You as living sacrifices, to deny ourselves, take up our crosses, and follow You. Help us to honor and acknowledge You in all of our ways. Strengthen us to walk in the fear of You, and to remember that we are only strangers here. Teach us to number our days and forgive us for when we have boasted about tomorrow; for when we have known what is good but failed to do it, and for when we have been consumed with things of no eternal value. Help us to wait upon You and to be faithful stewards of Your time and resources.

Lord, please forgive us for where we have let the enemy come in and have embraced his lies. Help us to put on Your armor and walk in Your power. Lord, we repent with hope, knowing that Your mercies are new every day, that You are slow to anger, and that when we confess our sins, You are faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Thank You Jesus, for becoming sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God. Thank You for covering us with Your precious blood.

Thank You for the victory we have by placing all of our hope, faith, and trust in You. When we fail, You are there, Lord, ready to forgive and help us up. When we call on You, You rescue us. Great is Your faithfulness. Thank You, Lord, for Your discipline, for we know that You correct those You love. As it is written in Revelation 3:19 "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore, be zealous and repent."

Lord, help us not to think it strange concerning this trial, for we know we can trust You and are in Your hands, and that, according to Your Word, judgment begins in the house of God. You are preparing us as Your bride, the church. Prepare us for Your coming, Lord. Help us to be faithful to bring in Your harvest, to be watchful, and to trim our lamps that we might be ready to be presented to You.

Please be strong in our weaknesses, encourage us when we have been faint-hearted, lift us up when we start to sink in anxiety and fear. Help us to keep our eyes on You. Thank You in advance, Lord, for the work You are doing in us and will do as we surrender to You, for we are Your workmanship. Thank You that we can rest in You, our Living Hope and that the battle is Yours, for You are our Rock and ever present help. Your power is greater and You are stronger than any battle or circumstance that we face.

Strengthen us to be overcomers, to persevere, and to live in expectancy of Your coming and anticipation of Your kingdom to come and Your will to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. "Now to Him Who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to present you faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to God our Savior, Who alone is wise, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and forever."

We pray in the mighty name of our dear Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
