We all look for hope in one way or another, whether it’s hoping that your favorite sports team is about to secure a win, or hoping that your boss will let you have that time off that you keep asking for, or even hoping that you’ll find a reason to live because you just don’t want to live anymore. Hope is the driving force behind the majority of the things that you do. As Fyodor Dostoevsky aptly stated, “To live without hope is to cease to live.”
So a good question to ask yourself would be, “What am I putting my hope in?”
All too often I put my hope in the results of worldly pleasures and rewards and lose sight of things that I can truly count on to better myself. Jesus gives us hope, without a doubt, the greatest hope that we can possibly have. It’s because of His death on the cross and resurrection that we can spend eternity with Him and have a relationship with Him right now on this earth!
The Psalmist David reflected, "No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame.” (Psalm 25:3a)
Also, Isaiah said, “Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:30-31)
So what do we have to put our hope in? God is the anchor in a sea of broken hearts, disregarded promises and anguish. Cling to the rock and put your hope in God because He wants the best for you.
Put your hope in Him!
