Dear Heavenly Father, We humble our hearts and souls before You, Oh Holy God. LORD, You hear the cry of the humble and deliver them.
Your presence accompanies those who are of a contrite and humble spirit. We bow our hearts before You for ourselves and on behalf of our nation, lifting up every heart in America.
Psalm 24:3-4 says, Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD. Who may stand in His HOLY place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.
You say that You are opposed to the proud but You give grace to the humble. (James 4:6) Make us truly humble Oh Lord.
James 4:8-10 says, Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands you sinners and purify your hearts you double -minded. Be miserable and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord and He will exalt you.
Father, we ask that You would reveal our sins to us so that we can see our souls clearly. Shine Your light on our pride, self- righteousness, self-effort, selfishness, impurity, hatred, lies, or any other sinful thing.
Bring to the surface every hidden sin in us, while, at the same time, giving us a revelation of your unconditional love as our Father who is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.
1st Peter 4:17 says, It is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?
Lord, we are sorry for our lukewarmness, complacency and hardened hearts. We are sorry for doing things our own way. Forgive us for our wickedness and for turning our faces from You. Forgive us for rejecting the truth. Forgive us for our hypocrisy and lack of love.
Forgive us for judging others based on how things look on the outside. For man looks on the outside, but You look at the heart. (1st Sam. 16:7) Forgive us for not caring for the poor, the orphan and widow like we should. Forgive us for not treating life as sacred, allowing the murder of babies in the womb. Forgive us for not honoring the institution of marriage as You designed it to be.
Forgive us for putting anything before You. Forgive us for our greed, for accumulating material things, amusing and entertaining ourselves, instead of doing Your will. Forgive us for blending in with the world, instead of choosing to be set apart as Your light, speaking Your truth in love.
Forgive us for our prayerlessness, for we have lost our first love.
We assume responsibility for the moral and spiritual erosion that has affected our nation and world.
It’s Your kindness that leads us to repentance. We bring our sins before You, repenting and turning away from them, sincerely desiring to make a change and doing it, or to stop doing it, whatever the "it" is. We return to You with our whole heart.
According to Psalm 51:1-2
Have mercy on me, Oh God.
Have mercy on us Oh God.
Have mercy on America, Oh God.
According to your unfailing love, according to your great compassion, blot out our transgressions. Wash away all of our iniquity and cleanse us from our sins. Create in us clean hearts Oh God. (verse 10)
We turn to the cross, our place of forgiveness, restoration, and healing. We ask that the blood of Jesus would cleanse us from all of our sins. Your grace is and Your love is immeasurable and endless. We love you Lord and we thank You for forgiving us and extending your mercy toward us.
Enable us to live set apart, pure and Holy, with Your love burning in our hearts so that when You look at us, You see hearts in love with You, our first love.
In the name of Jesus, the One who gave it all for us. May we give all of our hearts and lives to You, in total surrender to Your Lordship, because You are worthy of it all. In the name of Jesus, I pray all of these things, Amen.
Please make me so in love with You that I will further Your purposes on this earth. Create in me a passion and desire to redeem out of every tribe and nation a people for Yourself. To love and know You is to know my destiny and live my adventure. The quest to see and love You is the only worthy focus of my life and what I was created to seek and to find.
"There has never been a spiritual awakening in any country or locality that did not begin with united prayer."
